Aug. 21, 2008: Real Deal Media sponsors Slash Sessions event at Guitar Center
Guitar Center is pleased to announce the next installment of Guitar Center Sessions: An Evening of Dialogue and Insight with Slash. Taking place Wednesday, September 3 at the Guitar Center in Northridge, CA, the evening is free and open to the public, and will include a book signing for 2008 Pop-Culture Book of the Year Reckless Road: Guns N' Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction (Real Deal Media), the definitive visual history of the band's early days in Hollywood. The evening will be powered by Gibson, Ernie Ball and Real Deal Media.
Slash is more than just a musician. He is an icon. From Guns n' Roses to Velvet Revolver, Slash has changed the rock landscape with his rough and ready riffs and unforgettable, soulful leads, becoming one of the most recognizable guitarists in the world along the way. His catalog spans several decades and boasts some of rock's greatest anthems.
Designed to provide informative, provocative conversation and hands-on tutorials, the GC Sessions serve as an incubator for musicians, providing them an opportunity to network with their peers in an intimate setting and gain career-fostering advice from their heroes. Topics for this evening's event with Slash include guitar techniques and his Gibson signature guitars, songwriting tips, touring and music business advice, and insider insight into the book Reckless Road.

May 31, 2008: Real Deal Media wins 2 IPPY Awards
Real Deal Media is proud to announce that the two books we published this year, Reckless Road: Guns N' Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction and Mugshots: A Celebration of the Journey from Ruin to Redemption have won the 2008 Independent Publisher Awards. The IPPY awards recognize excellence in independent publishing and both our titles were selected from over 3,200 entries and 2,500 publishers in seven countries.
Mugshots was honored with an Outstanding Achievement Award and won for "Most Life-Changing Book of 2008."
Reckless Road won the Silver award for "Pop-Culture/Leisure Book of 2008."
An awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles earlier this month during the Book Expo America, the largest book trade show in the world. Slash (of Guns N' Roses) and Antwone Fisher came out to sign over 600 books on our behalf.
It was an incredible experience.
